About Bettie M. Steinberg
Dr. Bettie M. Steinberg was born in Price, Utah. She earned her B.A. in Biology at the University of California, Riverside and her B.S. in Biology at Adelphi University. Dr. Steinberg received her Ph.D. in Microbiology at SUNY Stony Brook, New York. She served two years at Columbia University as a Senior Research Associate followed by her association with the Long Island Jewish Medical Center in the Department of Otolaryngology. There she began her studies of human papillomaviruses and recurrent respiratory papillomatosis. Dr. Steinberg has authored and co-authored 96 peer reviewed publications and 27 book chapters. She is the recipient of numerous awards including the Robert K. Match Distinguished Scientist Award, the Long Island Achiever in Science from the Long Island Center for Business and Professional Women and the Karl Storz Award from the American Society of Pediatric Oncology. Dr. Steinberg is currently the Chief Scientific Officer for the Feinstein Institute for Medical Research and Chair of the Institutional Review Group for the American Cancer Society.
