Coalition’s Daughenbaugh Promoted to Vice President
Combat-wounded veteran joins leadership ranks at leading service organization.
Leesburg, VA, August 14, 2013 --(PR.com)-- The Coalition to Salute America’s Heroes (Coalition), a leading not-for-profit organization dedicated to rebuilding the lives of severely wounded veterans of the War on Terror, announced today that Donny Daughenbaugh has been promoted to Vice President of Field Operations, Eastern Region. He has served as the Coalition’s Assistant Vice President and a national spokesperson since 2008.
In his new role, Daughenbaugh will be responsible for the Coalition’s growing outreach to key constituencies across the nation. His duties will include making high-profile local and national appearances, overseeing engagement with VA hospitals, fundraising with major donors, walking the halls of Congress and making the case for more and better support of America’s wounded heroes.
Daughenbaugh lives with a bullet lodged at the base of his skull near his brain, the result of being shot in the face while on night foot patrol with his squad in Mahmoudiya, a city south of Baghdad.
“Donny has demonstrated an extraordinary ability to recognize opportunities and act proactively to maximize their benefit to the Coalition,” said David Walker, President & CEO of the Coalition. “He instinctively knows what needs to be done, doesn’t hesitate to challenge convention, offers concrete recommendations, seeks help where necessary, secures the requisite approvals and acts.”
Daughenbaugh has been highly visible in the media lately, recently representing the Coalition on Good Morning Texas in Dallas/Fort Worth and serving at the guest of honor in multiple “Happy Hour with a Hero” events sponsored by Bennigan’s, a corporate supporter of the Coalition. His story is also featured on Bennigan’s Wall of Heroes site at www.WallofHeroes.org.
“I consider my work at the Coalition to be an act of service to my military brethren, as well as a wonderful career opportunity,” said Daughenbaugh. “I truly appreciate the trust and confidence that David and the entire organization have placed in me, and I will certainly do everything in my power to fulfill the Coalition’s vital mission.”
Daughenbaugh is originally from Des Moines, Iowa. He now lives in League City, TX, a distant suburb of Houston, with his wife, Sarah, and two children.
