Carolina Ballet Releases 2013 Nutcracker Tickets Now on Sale

Local Professional Ballet Company Offers Advance Tickets for a Seasonal Favorite.

Raleigh, NC, August 16, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Robert Weiss, artistic director and CEO of Carolina Ballet (http://www.carolinaballet.com), has announced that the company will present The Nutcracker, the Tchaikovsky classical masterpiece and Christmas favorite, at UNC Memorial Hall (UNC), the Durham Performing Arts Center (DPAC), and Raleigh Memorial Auditorium (RMA) during select dates in December. Tickets are now on sale, nearly a month before audiences have been able to purchase them in years past. Due to enthusiastic response to ticket sales in the past two years, Carolina Ballet wants be sure audiences have time to make The Nutcracker part of their holiday plans this year and reserve seats that always sell quickly.

Carolina Ballet’s revised Nutcracker, which held many sold-out performances in 2011 and 2012, will return to the stage for the company’s 2013 lineup. The production is choreographed by Weiss, with grand-scale illusions created especially for Carolina Ballet that make the performance a truly magical family experience. In 2011 Weiss recruited a top Las Vegas magician, Rick Thomas, to create the magic illusions that are seamlessly incorporated into the dance performance and the classic story. The News & Observer commended the production’s artistic balance, and critics were awestruck by the masterfully-designed set and fascinating illusions.

Tickets for The Nutcracker may be purchased by calling the Carolina Ballet box office at (919) 719-0900, through Ticketmaster at (800) 982-2787, or on Carolina Ballet’s website at http://www.carolinaballet.com. Quotes:
“Every year we look forward to bringing this enchanting holiday classic to North Carolina families,” said Weiss. “We are excited audiences have another month to purchase tickets so they get to reserve in advance times and dates to experience the magic of The Nutcracker.”

“The gasps after each eye-popping illusion, the applause for the handsome new sets, and the rapt attention from all the children confirmed the changes were worth it,” wrote Roy Dicks, The News and Observer.
