Forecasting an Integrated Future for MSMR
Nottingham, United Kingdom, August 16, 2013 --(PR.com)-- London-based MSMR Architects has recently implemented Union Square for Project Accounting, the project-based financial management tool for construction industry professionals. Founded in 2000, MSMR specialises in prime residential projects such as houses, apartments and penthouses. The majority of its projects are based in London but recent international work has included Gibraltar, Spain and Russia.
Director Sheila McCusker explains the practice’s decision to upgrade its financial management systems: “Our methods had evolved over the years and as the practice grew so did the manual processes involved with managing information. Invoices were produced on a monthly basis using Excel and fee allocation and forecasting was done using a separate spreadsheet for each job, leaving room for errors with manual input. In addition to this, resources were being recorded in timesheet software which could be slow and time consuming.”
MSMR began the search for a solution which would consolidate the various silos of data and streamline the practice’s processes. Various systems were considered during the search but Union Square for Project Accounting stood out. Union Square is tailored specifically for construction professionals and provides a central location for the management of financial data such as fee forecasting, resource allocation, timesheets and expenses on a project by project basis. The system offers greater visibility through detailed, real-time reporting.
MSMR felt that Union Square met its requirements in a cohesive manner without the need for additional bespoke work so made the decision to invest. The practice has started the change process by first introducing the Union Square’s timesheets functionality to all staff. “The production of timesheets is now much easier,” Sheila continues. “Once the full system is up and running we’ll have much more detailed financial reporting and a reduction in supporting manual processes too, giving us greater insight and more time to work on our projects.”
