CMS Solutions Sponsors STL Crane Project with Proceeds Going to The Backstoppers & Responder Rescue
St. Louis, MO, August 21, 2013 --(PR.com)-- This past weekend, one thousand paper cranes landed on Art Hill in Forest Park. It was the second year for the STL Crane Project and CMS Solutions (CMS) was proud to be the sponsor of this important memorial.
This art installation of origami cranes is gaining visibility and providing much-needed support to The Backstoppers, a greater St. Louis area charity that provides financial and emotional support to the families of first responders who have died while on duty and to Responder Rescue, whose mission is to provide assistance; emotional, tangible or monetary, to any area first responders, who have been injured, become ill or suffered a traumatic situation.
One of those on hand at Saturday’s ceremony to read names of fallen firefighters and police officers from our area was CMS Solutions CEO, Josh Levey.
“Every time these men and women go to work, they risk making the ultimate sacrifice for our community – their lives,” said Levey. “Today we get to both bring awareness and pay tribute to them.”
The St. Louis Crane Project is based on a Japanese legend that if you fold a thousand cranes, you get a wish. This weekend, participants wished for the safety of first responders. Volunteers from all over St. Louis folded the cranes to sell for $10 each, and the proceeds will go to families of the fallen and injured.
"They are putting their lives at risk everyday for us and we really need to appreciate them," said STL Crane Project Founder Rick Ruderer. “We’re excited to have CMS participate in this event. They purchased all the paper to make the cranes and stored it in their office.”

1000 Origami Cranes or Senbazuru has many meanings. For the 2012 STL Crane project they represented a memorial to those who have fallen protecting our community, a pledge to their families and a wish for peace. That installation reminded us of the sacrifices of our first responders and their families.
Legend has it that folding 1000 cranes will cause a wish to come true. Our wish is simple, that our first responders remain safe and that St. Louis never forgets those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
The STL Crane Project will be back in 2013 with a goal of folding thousands more cranes for adoption. These special cranes will be available for adoption at the end of the installation for a $10.00 donation with all proceeds again going to The BackStoppers.

Started in 1959 by a group of St. Louis businessmen, The BackStoppers is a 501(c)3 charitable organization dedicated to providing needed support and financial assistance to the spouses and children of regional police officers, firefighters, publicly-funded paramedics and EMTs and volunteer fire protection personnel who lost their life performing their duty. While we often see these men and women as daily heroes, they still face injury, illness and traumatic events; on and off duty. Unfortunately, there is only so much their insurance companies and the departments they work for can do to help. Responder Rescue, a 501(c)(3) organization, was established in 2009 by a St. Louis metro area fire Captain who saw this unmet need. Responder Rescue's mission is to provide assistance; emotional, tangible or monetary, to any area first responders, who have been injured, become ill or suffered a traumatic situation after all other resources have been exhausted.
