Volunteer in Evergreen’s 1st Annual Dig-a-Thon and be Entered to Win Prizes for Giving Local Trails a Little Love
Now through September 29th, individuals, families and groups are encouraged to help Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance build and maintain trails statewide by earning entries in a raffle to win valuable prizes.
Seattle, WA, August 21, 2013 --(PR.com)-- In an effort to generate more volunteer hours building and maintaining trails statewide, Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance has launched its first-ever Dig-A-Thon. Volunteers of all ages are invited to join any Evergreen trail work party, and in return they’ll be entered in a raffle to win prizes; including a Diamondback Sortie 29” mountain bike frame valued at $2000.
Most trails being built or maintained are multi-use, and all are open to mountain bikes. Volunteers are encouraged to bring their family, friends or coworkers for a day – or more – of giving back to the trails and will receive additional raffle entries for doing so. All ages, experience and fitness levels are welcome. Anyone interested in participating can find an upcoming trail work party on the Evergreen calendar at: http://evergreenmtb.org/recreation or via their local Evergreen Chapter in Wenatchee, Winthrop, Spokane or Battle Ground, WA.
In 2012, Evergreen donated 10,000+ volunteer hours to build and maintain a little more than 100 miles of trails statewide. Evergreen’s goal is to donate 50,000+ hours annually to building and maintaining trails in Washington.
“Unlike rain in the Pacific Northwest, trails don’t just fall from the sky in perfect condition every year – volunteers donate thousands of hours to building and maintaining trails for all of us to enjoy, states Glenn Glover, Evergreen’s Executive Director. “The goal of the Dig-A-Thon is to get more people out working on trails, and create a stronger culture of trail stewardship among mountain bikers in particular.”
How the Dig-A-Thon works:
Anyone who volunteers for at least 3 hours at any trail work party on the Evergreen Calendar, or hosted by an Evergreen regional chapter, earns one raffle entry. Anyone who volunteers at three work parties during Dig-A-Thon gets an Evergreen Tech-T as Evergreen’s thanks for helping make Washington a better place to ride.
Plus, volunteers can earn 2 extra raffle entries by…
· Volunteering for the 1st time ever on a work party
· Bringing a 1st timer
· Bringing a kid age 15 & younger
· Joining a backcountry work party
Example: Jane come for the 1st time so she gets 3 entries. She brings a friend who’s also a 1st timer. Now Jane get 2 extra entries for 5 total and her friend gets 3 entries.
Entries will be drawn at their grand finale bbq on September 29th. Participants do not need to be present to win. Prizes include: A Diamondback Sortie 29” mountain bike frame, Kitsbow mountain biking shorts, Stevens Pass Bike Park lift tickets, new helmets from Giro and Bell, and much more.
