Alberta Portrait is "Going Big - Not Going Home" with a Second Professional Studio in Calgary
Calgary photographer Neil Speers bucks the trend of "home studios" in photography with his second retail portrait studio.
Calgary, Canada, August 24, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Bucking the trend of photographers moving their studios to their own homes to cut costs, Alberta Portrait Inc. has opened a second retail style studio - this time in the North West area of Calgary in the Hidden Valley community.
Providing a superb place for families and individuals to get a professionally done, fine art style portrait was important to owner and photographer Neil Speers.
"For my style of portrait photography - I felt it was best to use a full retail style location which allowed me to build the right feeling and usable spaces to create the images I want to create. It gives me the ability to push my photography further than in small rooms or making compromises when at locations," Neil explained, adding that "I've heard from various clients they weren't comfortable going to someone's home for meetings and sessions."
"And," Neil commented, "So many photographers I know who've come to either of my spaces are immediately jealous of the 10 foot and 12 foot ceilings in my spaces - those photographers understand how having room like that really helps to create better portraits for clients by not being limited as to where I can put my lighting."
While the company doesn't operate out of a home studio, it's more than happy to have one of the two photographers come to client's homes or go to the park for a portrait session. If a customer has a place they are emotionally tied to, that can make a wonderful portrait. However if Calgary's infamous weather puts a damper on an outdoor session, they still have the studios to work in.
The first location is in the Mission/Beltline area just off of 4th Street. That location primarily works with business people to create professional head shots and do commercial photography - although some portraits for individuals and families are still done there.
The Hidden Valley location – at the end of 14th Street just 15 minutes north of downtown – focuses on fine portraiture for families, pets, children and individuals.
Owner and photographer Neil Speers has been in photography for over three decades and is the Chairman of the Central Alberta branch of the Professional Photographers of Canada.
