Fear City Chicago Haunted House Returns for 2013 the Inclusion of an All New Side Show, Fables Studios "Carnivale"
Fear City Chicago will return for the 2013 Halloween season, doubling the scare ratio with its signature, immersive theatre of the mind in a vast warehouse of horror. 2013 will bring the inclusion of Carnivale at Fables Studios, an interactive sideshow of unparalleled proportions. These two forces will unite to provide the ultimate in collaborative thrills and chills with two distinctive haunted attractions in one location: Fear City Chicago 2013 and Carnivale at Fables Studios.
Morton Grove, IL, August 29, 2013 --(PR.com)-- 2013 will be the third year for the production team of Chuck Grendys, who owns the movie-building shop Big City Sets, and Jim Lichon, an Emmy-winning set decorator formerly with Harpo Studios, as they take their collective television and movie production experience and skills to once again create a haunted house unlike any other.
This year, as Fear City Chicago 2013 will incorporate Carnivale at Fables Studios, Grendys and Lichon partner with Peter Tomeczko of Fables Studios. Tomeczko, the man behind the curtain, has hand-crafted the props, costumes, masks and animatronic wizardry, all of which will be sure to delight and amaze.
In both Fear City’s freshman and sophomore year, Chicago Tribune theater critic Chris Jones gave the haunt glowing reviews, declaring in 2012, “It’s hard to overstate the level of detail with which the horrors are re-created.” Jones went on to say, “One woman playing a psychotic little girl with a weird sweetness, kept me awake that night. For real.” The expectations for 2013 are heightened with the addition of Carnivale at Fables Studios, and the results will be spectacular. Separately, each haunted house will be one of the Chicago area’s most unique and largest haunted house experiences with unmatched credentials. Combined, they will create a theatrical, one-stop night of all things Halloween in 40,000 square feet of indoor space.
Fear City Chicago 2013 will be filled with all new nightmares bringing to life iconic Chicago references both natives and newcomers will appreciate. Whether it’s the airport, the “L,” a county asylum, the local towing company, the inbred family of Southside Irish gingers, or a Day of the Dead celebration, nothing is off limits. Nearly 100 live actors and interactive displays will terrorize all senses. From fearsome to funny to downright inappropriate, the gritty Fear City Chicago 2013, as always, will be disturbingly entertaining.
Carnivale at Fables Studios will be a complementary, interactive sideshow, reminiscent of 1920s vaudeville. The choices patrons make will alter the outcome of the show as Carnivale attendees interact with a fortune teller, marionettes, a magician, stop by the sweet shop, go through a tunnel of love, take part in a séance, and play carnival games of chance. Carnivale at Fables Studios may be a sideshow, but it won’t be a novelty act.
Tickets to Fear City Chicago 2013 and Carnival at Fables Studio are now on sale. Tickets will be $25 per haunted attraction or $35 for a ticket to both haunts on the same visit. There will be a $10 VIP Fast Pass option which allows rush entry, and with a US Military ID, the VIP pass is free. Fear City is 100% ADA accessible and 100% indoors, including the waiting area, with 100% free parking in the on-premise parking lot.
Fear City Chicago 2013 and Carnivale at Fables Studios will offer a Media Preview on Friday, September 27 at 8pm. Both haunts will be open to the public for their “Bloody Red Carpet Opening Weekend” on Friday, October 4, continuing through their “School District 219 Fundraising Weekend” on Friday, October 11, onto the “Halloween PreScream Weekend” on Thursday, October 17, through the “Happy Halloweekend” from Wednesday, October 23, and concluding with the “Day of the Dead Weekend” on Wednesday, October 30 to Saturday, November 2.
