Reigning Miss North Carolina to Appear at First Annual MetroBravo! Party
Jessica Jacobs will join the fun at the event of the season.
Raleigh, NC, September 08, 2007 --(PR.com)-- The reigning Miss North Carolina, Jessica Jacobs, will be a special guest at the first annual MetroBravo! Party, sponsored by Raleigh Metro Magazine to recognize the 2007 winners of the magazine’s “best of” reader’s poll.
The event is set for Thursday, September 27, from 6-10 p.m. at the Koka Booth Amphitheatre in Cary. (http://www.boothamphitheatre.com)
Jacobs was graduated from Ledford High School in High Point in 2002. She received her undergraduate degree from UNC-Chapel Hill’s School of Journalism. This spring she completed her first year as a full-scholarship graduate student of organizational communication at NC State University in Raleigh.
An ambassador and fundraiser for the Children’s Miracle Network, Jacobs also founded the “Read to Me” literacy program in Davidson and Randolph Counties. According to Miss North Carolina pageant information, she intends to develop the program throughout the state. She will compete for the title of Miss America next year.
Bernie Reeves, editor and publisher of Metro Magazine, noted, “This event is all about winners, and Jessica has certainly succeeded. But what we recognize is that this Miss North Carolina is serious about doing her part to help students by teaching them to read.”
Each spring, Metro Magazine asks its readers to select the best products, stores, services and people from a large selection of categories. The winners are published in Metro’s July and August editions. (Go to http:// www.metronc.com for the list of 2007 winners).
For the first time, the MetroBravo! Party will bring together a selection of this year’s award recipients, area celebrities such as Miss North Carolina, their fans – and everyone who wants to meet and mingle with the winners.
The gala celebration will include music by 2007 MetroBravo! winners The Dune Dogs and The Proclivities, and the legendary rock group Arrogance.
For the price of admission, party-goers will also have access to exhibition booths for free samples of food, beverages, services and special gifts. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the United Arts Foundation of Raleigh and Wake County (http://www.unitedarts.org).
According to Reeves, "As the region has grown, interest in the MetroBravo! readers poll has grown exponentially. We decided it's time to celebrate the establishments and people that make us one of the most dynamic regions in the country - and we want to recognize the winners and give them a chance to meet the readers who voted for them. It looks like a great party to me."
Party-goers will also discover a host of offerings and information from MetroBravo! Award-winners in exhibition booths set up in the amphitheatre’s Crescent Deck. There will be “lots of great give-aways,” said special events planner Katie Poole, "plus displays of new products, including the latest models from Lexus."
MetroBravo! Party tickets are $35 and $75 (V.I.P.) and are on sale through Ticketmaster (http://www.ticketmaster.com) and Metro Magazine (http://www.metronc.com). Corporate tables, with catering by the area's top chefs, are also available. Call Katie Poole at 919-831-0999 for reservations and additional sponsorship opportunities.
Metro Magazine, established in 1999, is a 40,000 circulation monthly, four-color city/regional publication serving Raleigh, the Research Triangle and Eastern North Carolina.
