Master Windsor Chairmaker Adds One-Day Woodworking Instructional Classes at the R.Grell Workshop
Prestigious Windsor Chairmaker, Richard Grell, Adds One-Day Classes in Steam Bending, Furniture Restoration and Woodworking Hand Tool Restorations
Hudson, OH, August 31, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Richard Grell, master Windsor chairmaker, adds one-day classes to his 2013 fine woodworking instruction at the R. Grell Woodworking Workshop. The one-day classes demonstrate century-old techniques in Successful Steam Bending Beginning with the Log, Furniture Restoration and Woodworking Hand Tool Restoration.
“The one-day instructional classes offer particular classic techniques in woodworking,” said Richard Grell, instructor of the R. Grell Woodworking Workshop. “With the emphasis on one aspect, I’m able to fully divulge all of the history, my experience and my learned techniques to students.”
In the Successful Steam Bending with the Log class, students will learn Grell’s methods and incorporate hands-on wood and steam bending, as well as building bending jigs. Grell will also demonstrate the process for sawing legs into boards using a portable saw mill and later cut the saw legs into bending stock.
For the Furniture Restoration class, participants will bring in their own piece of furniture for evaluation and guidance in restoration with classic techniques. They will learn the history and construction methods for their piece, while benefiting from the guidance of fellow students’ furniture.
Woodworking Hand Tool Restoration demonstrates proper techniques for classic restoration through cleaning, sharpening and correct use for future woodworking projects. Students will bring in their own tool for restoration or may be provided with a tool by Grell.
Prior woodworking experience is not necessary. All materials and tools are provided in each workshop. Classes take place in his converted barn that offers a unique woodworking experience with a limited amount of students to ensure one-on-one instruction.
The R.Grell workshop opens at 8:30 a.m. with classes starting at 9:00 a.m. and ending at 5:00 p.m. Lunch is provided for optimum class time. Classes begin on September 21 at the workshop in Hudson, Ohio. For a full class schedule, price list and registration form go to http://richardgrell.com/woodworking-workshop/class-schedule.
