Colleyville United Methodist Church Celebrates Completion of $275,000 Sanctuary Renovation

Colleyville, TX, August 31, 2013 --(PR.com)-- First United Methodist Church of Colleyville will celebrate the completion of a $275,000 major sanctuary and narthex renovation on September 8, 2013 with special services and a church-wide barbeque. The public is welcome.

The sanctuary renovation is the third for the church built in 1924 and the third significant construction project in 8 years. The renovation will accommodate a growing membership and support the addition of a third worship service beginning this December with the Advent season.

While a portion of the renovation was contracted out, a significant portion of the project was completed by members of the church under the leadership of the United Methodist Men’s organization. Retired Lt. General Carl Franklin chaired the project. “Many of the members contributed thousands of hours to this project,” said Rev. Mike Dawson, Senior Pastor of the church. “Not only did we end up with a great new sanctuary, many of our members forged new friendships and new skills. I told them that their work enabled us to do more with our budget. It’s as if, by their volunteer labor, they collectively gave the church a check for a hundred thousand dollars.”

Also installed in the sanctuary is a state of the art Rodgers 3-manual organ with a pipe façade that spans the front of the church.

Inaugural services for the new sanctuary will be held at 8:30 am and 11 am on September 8th. Special music from the organ will be featured at both services. A catered barbeque will be held in the Family Life Center at 11:15 and noon. The church is located at 1000 Church Street, Colleyville, TX. 76034
