Rigid Screening
The selection process is strict and thorough. To enter the South East Asia Property Awards 2012, a development must be nominated. However, a company cannot nominate itself or its development, or be nominated by its employees.
Developments were evaluated according to the following criteria: design and concept including functionality, green initiatives, innovations and amenities; value for money including suitability of location and pricing relative to quality; sales and marketing, including creativity and performance; construction, including state of completion and quality of construction.
For the Best Condominium category, a panel of expert judges reviewed the entries and submitted their scores according to the published criteria to the BDO Advisory. BDO, the organizer's partner, is a full service accounting and consulting firm. It is the world's fifth largest auditing and consulting firm that services large multinational accountancy firms.
The panel then met to discuss and select a final shortlist of up to five finalists.
A local team visited each of the short-listed developments. A face-to-face meeting with the projects' senior executives and a site inspection was undertaken, after which the local judges deliberated the merits of each development, with a representative of BDO present. After all short-listed entrants have been visited, the local judges decided upon the winner and submitted the results to a representative of BDO.
The central panel met with the local team in the presence of BDO to retain the objectivity of the process.
