Realizing that violent gang behavior is a manifestation of the gang member’s thought process, N’S.T.E.P. speaks directly to the violent gang mentality. By making the gang member cognizant of why he or she acts out in violence, N’S.T.E.P. seeks to ameliorate the destructive gang behavior and to affect positive and productive change in the gang member's thought process – leading the gang member back to the honorable and protective elements which were present at the inception of the gang.
The 9 Steps to Empowerment Process is an innovative and effective gang violence prevention and intervention curriculum that targets the psychological effects of the traumatic gang experience which in turn gives rise to violent and counterproductive gang behavior. In addition to his experiential knowledge of the miscreant aspects of the gang mentality, Le’Taxione is a scholar of a wide array of various disciplines, including psychology, sociology, religion, biology and physiology.
