Johns Island, SC, September 07, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Anonymous Donor Gives Scholarship Helping More Than a Dozen Students.

A group of anonymous donors have presented Charleston Collegiate School (CCS) with a matching gift of $63,000 to provide scholarships for students who would not otherwise have the opportunity to receive a premier secondary education. The check was presented today at 10:00 a.m. "under the oaks" on the Charleston Collegiate’s campus through Kiawah Cares, by their ambassador, Mr. Jimmy Bailey.

Hacker Burr, Headmaster of Charleston Collegiate School, received the check saying, “I am so excited to see individuals and businesses in the community stepping up to provide opportunities for high-achieving students. The generosity of the Johns Island Academic Scholarship Fund not only provided funding for 7 top students to attend Charleston Collegiate via today’s gift, but this gift acted as the spark needed to rally other generous individuals to match today’s donation with another 7 scholarships. Each of these gifts is as rewarding for the donor as they are rewarding for the student recipients, as there is nothing that can match the feeling one gets when watching these deserving students walk across the stage at graduation, many being the first in their family to go on to college. It is also important to note that without Kiawah Cares being the link for Johns Island Non-Profit Organizations to interested donors, these scholarships may not have been possible.”

Jimmy Bailey, representing Kiawah Cares, was happy to be a part of this donation saying, "Kiawah Cares is extremely honored to present this donation on behalf of the Johns Island Academic Scholarship Fund. When we launched the Kiawah Cares Community Partner Program last year, this is exactly the type of partnership we envisioned. While the donors wish to remain anonymous, their investment in the future of these students is something we should all celebrate."
