“Wildacre,” Shingle Style Ocean Drive Estate, Sells for $14 Million
Newport, RI, September 14, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Gustave White Sotheby’s International Realty today announced the sale of “Wildacre” at 310 Ocean Avenue in Newport, Rhode Island. This iconic landmark property overlooking Price’s Neck Cove sold for $14,000,000. Sales associate Michelle Kirby of Gustave White Sotheby’s International Realty represented the seller, who executed a meticulous restoration of the property in 1998. This restoration garnered many awards including a “Historic Preservation Award” from the Rhode Island Historical Preservation & Heritage Commission. The buyer, Ocean 310, LLC, has chosen to remain anonymous and was represented by Sales Associate David Huberman, also of Gustave White Sotheby’s International Realty. The Newport-based firm also handled the sale of two recent significant Newport estates; “Clarendon Court,” and “Hopedene.”
“Wildacre,” built in 1902, was a collaboration by architect Irving Gill and Frederick Law Olmsted’s Landscape firm. Nestled into its rugged and private oceanfront site, it is considered Shingle-style in nature with both Arts & Crafts and Asian influences. Amenities include an infinity-edge pool overlooking the cove with pool house and grill/kitchen area, private dock, greenhouse and guest house.
Paul A. Leys, co-owner of Gustave White Sotheby’s International Realty states “This sale, along with the last several multi-million dollar transactions that have occurred in the past year, continue to highlight Newport and all of coastal Rhode Island as a true destination for the discriminating buyer looking for waterfront amenities, privacy, and the high quality of living that Newport and Rhode Island offers.”
