2013 Kroger Scholars Program Names Cary Associate’s Child a $1,000 Scholarship Winner
Local Grocer Awards Imane Chettouch, Whose Parents Works At The Cary Store, With Scholarship To Use For Post-Secondary Educational Opportunities
Raleigh, NC, September 14, 2013 --(PR.com)-- The Kroger Co. (NYSE: KR), the nation’s largest traditional grocery retailer with 14 stores throughout the Triangle and North Carolina, has announced that Imane Chettouch, the daughter of Ahmed and Fatima Chettouch, associates who works at the Kroger store on Northwest Maynard Road in Cary, N.C., has won $1,000 from the 2013 Kroger Scholars program. She will be attending the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. The companywide program rewards children of Kroger associates who apply successfully for consideration and demonstrate a commitment to academics. Imane can use the funds at any accredited two-year or four-year college, university or technical/vocational school during the 2013-2014 academic year. A total of 349 children nationwide have been named 2013 Kroger Scholars, including 14 in the Mid-Atlantic region that covers the Triangle.
All divisions of Kroger can participate in this annual program. Children ages 25 and younger of associates with two years of service at Kroger and its affiliates who work at least 1,000 hours per year are eligible to apply. Students may reapply each year they are eligible, but a student may only receive the award once. Since the Kroger Scholars program launched in 2008, more than 1,500 members of the Kroger family have received support.
