Raleigh, NC, September 14, 2013 --(PR.com)-- William Peace University (http://www.peace.edu), a private four-year university located in downtown Raleigh, has announced that the university will host a new production of No Exit, written by Jean-Paul Sartre, from Tuesday, Sept. 24 through Saturday, Sept. 28. The performances will be held at the university’s Leggett Theatre from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., with a special matinee on Sept. 28 at 2 p.m. Jennifer Avery, adjunct instructor for dance and William Peace Theatre choreographer, is the director of the play, written by the 1964 winner for the Nobel Prize in Literature (an award the author refused). No Exit focuses on two women and one man who are locked up together for eternity in one hideous room in hell. The windows are bricked up; there are no mirrors; the electric lights can never be turned off; and there is no exit. The irony of this hell is that its torture is not of the rack and fire, but of the burning humiliation of each soul as it is stripped of its pretenses by the cruel curiosity of the damned. Here the soul is shorn of secrecy, and even the blackest deeds are mercilessly exposed to the fierce light of hell. It is an eternal torment. No Exit Is presented through special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc.

Quotes:
“We are looking forward to experiencing Jennifer’s interpretation of No Exit as one of the first plays presented this fall by William Peace Theatre,” said Debra M. Townsley, Ph.D., president of William Peace University. “This distinguished, intense play challenges the intellect and emotions of spectators as much as its participants, and I am pleased that we are presenting such an ambitious piece as our initial dramatic offering for this upcoming season.”
