Quantum3D ExpeditionDI Selected by Romanian Army
Quantum3D ExpeditionDI, Distributed by Digital Bit in Romania, to Assist Romanian Army in Developing Future Soldier Training and Soldier Systems
London, United Kingdom, September 11, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Quantum3D®, Inc., a leading provider of Commercial-off-the-Shelf (COTS), open-architecture, realtime visual computing solutions, announced today at Defense Systems & Equipment International (DSEi) Exposition 2007 that the Romanian Army has selected Quantum3D’s ExpeditionDI™ Un-Tethered, Man-Wearable Immersive Training (MWIT) Platform and Quantum3D’s LightSpeed® Image Generator Software (IGS) to assist the Romanian Army in its research and development of future soldier systems.
Purchased by Romania’s Military Equipment and Technologies Research Agency (METRA), the ExpeditionDI system will be employed by the Romanian Army to evaluate different equipment solutions to improve training for its soldiers. ExpeditionDI allows researchers and training system providers to integrate solutions with various software, databases and toolsets in order to evaluate training effectiveness. ExpeditionDI and Quantum3D LightSpeed® IGS for realtime scene-management, along with other selected game-based training tools, will provide the Romanian Army with state-of-the-art simulation capabilities with which they can identify new training technologies and test new training and operational systems prior to fielding.
As the Romanian Army’s R&D element, METRA’s primary goal is to study, test, develop and implement the latest technologies in military equipment and systems. METRA purchased the ExpeditionDI system in order to develop a best-in-class virtual-environment infantry training system, not only to train soldiers as better fighters but also to keep them in touch with the latest technologies, thus preparing them for future soldier systems.
“METRA and the Romanian Army are pioneering new technologies for soldier training and soldier systems,” said Ross Q. Smith, Quantum3D Co-Founder and President. “All of us at Quantum3D are pleased to support our Romanian allies by providing ExpeditionDI and LightSpeed IGS as foundation-level research tools to aid the Romanian Army’s development of future soldier training and deployable soldier systems.”
