Invitation to the Purple Power Movement; Blogger Soiree Domestic Violence Month Awareness

New York, NY, September 18, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Blissful Elegance Events has partnered with Jericho Road – a non-profit charged with educating adults and youth about domestic violence - to host a media event to kick off October as National Domestic Violence Month and to inform bloggers of the state of domestic violence awareness.

One in four women (25%) has experienced domestic violence in her lifetime and on average, more than three women and one man are murdered by their intimate partners in this country every day (Domestic Violence Resource Center). As an event planner for “Women’s Events” Denise Best saw firsthand the impact that domestic violence had on both women and men, especially when she found out that two of her dear friends were survivors. This inspired her to create the Purple Power Movement with the mission of spreading domestic violence awareness. This soiree is the start of several awareness raising events and digital campaigns to help victims of DV find the help they need. It is also the kickoff event for the Jericho Road Walk-a-thon for Domestic Violence on October 5th.

“Jericho Road reaches out to adults and youth about domestic violence in a unique and powerful way. They send young men into schools, churches and other non-profit organizations to speak along with domestic violence survivors about how to identify and avoid the trappings of an abusive relationship.” Denise Best, Owner of Blissful Elegance Events explains, “We partnered with them specifically because using young men to distribute their message, as opposed to solely women who are traditionally used, has been found to be effective as it touches both sexes in a distinctive ways. As we all know information is power.”
