About Norma R. Dugal-Whitehead
Ms. Dugal-Whitehead has over 33 years’ experience as a Senior Electronics Engineer working for NASA- Marshall Space Flight Center. NASA- Marshall Space Flight Center is a government civilian rocketry and spacecraft propulsion research, design and development center in Huntsville, Alabama. During her career Ms. Dugal-Whitehead has been involved in many phases of design, research, and development. Some of the most notable contributions to the Space Program include: being the Avionics Lead for the International Space Station’s Environmental Control and Life Support System Urine Processor Assembly; being the Deputy Avionics Lead for the control electronics for the Launch Abort System for the new Orion Crew Vehicle through its successful Pad Abort 1 test flight; an author of many papers in the power system automation area; part of the calibration team for the Chandra Space Telescope; and presently, she is developing electronics for a new lunar lander. She is both a Silver Snoopy and Space Flight Awareness Award Honoree. A native to Huntsville, Alabama, she graduated from the University of Alabama in Huntsville with a B.S. in Engineering in 1982. She is happily married to her husband of 28 years, Robert and has two wonderful children: Teresa (23) and Ivan (16). In her spare time she enjoys home remodeling including intricate tile work, sewing, swimming, and reading.
