Gold Crest Care Center Celebrates Child Health Day
Gold Crest Care Center is happy to celebrate Child Health Day and spread awareness of health issues facing todays youth.
Bronx, NY, September 20, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Gold Crest Care Center is proud to spread awareness about Child Health Day this October 7, 2013. On this day, Gold Crest hopes to share the spirit of community in fighting Autism, Childhood Obesity, and infant fatalities, while supporting healthy eating habits, personal hygiene and mental growth and development.
Proclaimed a day of National Observance by President Calvin Coolidge in 1928, it was observed on May 1st until 1960, when it was moved to the first Monday of October. Organizations interested in child wellness are invited to join together on Child Health Day to help increase awareness of child health issues.
Healthcare organizations across the nation commemorate the day through various activities and events. The Health Resources and Services Administration provides educational resources for parents and schools about issues affecting their children, such as child obesity prevention and healthy choices. Today, about one in three American kids and teens is overweight or obese. That is nearly triple the rate in 1963, a major risk factor for serious health consequences later in life.
“While our organization does not specialize in Pediatrics, we recognize the importance and urgency of the need to spread awareness for health issues effecting children not only in our community, but across the nation and the world. We need to remember that our choices affect how our children make choices. Neglecting this can effect our kids for the rest of their lives,” says Mark Salamon, Administrator at Gold Crest Care Center.
Gold Crest Care Center provides its residents with short term rehabilitation, long-term nursing care and 24 hour on call board-certified physicians and registered nurses. Gold Crest also offers hospice care, cancer recovery services, IV therapies, specialized wound treatment, ophthalmology, podiatry, audiology, dental services, radiology services, pastoral services and more.
