Kentucky Events: the Lexington Art Show, Nov. 23-24
Original, Juried Art from Kentucky and Surrounding States, Including a Limited-Edition Poster Featuring a Favorite Kentucky Downtown. Held Nov. 23-24, the Lexington Art Show will bring more than 120 artists to Downtown Lexington for a show that invites you to shop local for one-of-a-kind pieces.
Lexington, KY, September 20, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Think originally for your holiday shopping, Central Kentuckians. The Lexington Art Show will bring more than 120 artists to Downtown Lexington for a juried show that invites you to shop local for one-of-a-kind pieces. Held Nov. 23-24 inside Lexington Center, the show includes the unveiling of a limited-edition poster by Morehead-based artist Brenda Salyers.
Salyers grew up in Winchester and has a goal to paint all 120 Kentucky counties. “As an artist, if you’ve made a piece of art and it’s how you wanted it to be, hopefully it can speak for itself. Whatever it says to the viewer is the right message because there isn’t a wrong and a right message. Each person takes something a little different from the same piece and I’m happy with that,” explains Salyers.
To be unveiled on Saturday, Nov. 23 at 10:30 a.m., less than 100 copies of the Kentucky poster will be available for purchase during the show. They are $25 signed by Salyers, $15 unsigned, and are ready to be framed. Show Director Lynn Wettach adds, “We aren’t sharing the image before the show, but I can tell you that it shows a beautiful version of one of Kentucky’s favorite downtowns. Everyone from the Bluegrass State will want to hang this poster in their home or office!"
Salyers is also an exhibitor during the third annual show, where attendees will have an opportunity to meet and support all of the artists who created the work they are exhibiting. From jewelry to photography, paintings, sculptures and glass, the Lexington Art Show makes "buying American" easy. "The show is juried, which means the jury committee carefully selects only the best work submitted in each category to assure ensure a well-rounded and quality event," adds Wettach.
Held the weekend before Thanksgiving, details on the show are as follows:
- Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 23-24
- 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. both days
- $6 admission (good both days with hand stamp). Children 12 and under are free with a paid adult.
- Lexington Center - 430 W. Vine Street in Downtown Lexington
- Free parking in the High Street or Manchester Street lots (to the extent available)
