Newly-Launched Dessert Firm, Sweet Karma, Tastes Success as a Finalist in the Quality Food Awards 2013
New UK Sweet Samosas Anglo-Asian dessert company, Sweet Karma, named as a finalist in prestigious national Quality Food Awards within a month of its launch.
Fleet, United Kingdom, September 26, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Newly-launched Anglo-Asian dessert company, Sweet Karma, has been named as a finalist in a prestigious national food awards within a month of its launch.
Former lawyer Neeta Mehta, founded Sweet Karma when her solicitor’s firm folded in mid 2012. She used the opportunity to follow her dream of creating a sweet samosa to fill a gap in the Anglo-Indian dessert market.
Now, Hampshire-based Sweet Karma has been named as a finalist in the Frozen desserts category of the 2013 Quality Food Awards, for their apple and cinnamon sweet samosas, alongside other finalists Sainsbury’s and Lidl.
Neeta said, “We’re beyond thrilled to have been shortlisted, I can’t believe it after such a short time. It’s given us a huge boost.”
The samosas are made in the UK, using delicate triangles of filo pastry, filled with four high quality fillings that are free from artificial colours and flavourings. Currently, there are four varieties: apple and cinnamon; mango; dark chocolate and raspberry and Sweet Karma has plans to expand the range.
Sweet Karma samosas recently exhibited at the national Speciality and Fine Food Fair in London.
Neeta said, "We’ve had a terrific response and have learned so much from the feedback, making adjustments along the way to make sure the product is just right. We have no illusions that it’s a tough market and we’re hoping the prestige of the awards will set us apart and help our sales take off."
This year the awards received a record number of entries, so to be chosen among so many big names including Tesco, Asda, Marks and Spencer and Merchant Gourmet is a huge accolade.
The finalists have been invited to a glittering awards ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane on Thursday 7th November 2013, where the winners in each category will be announced.
