Sex and Cancer - Better Sex Fights Cancer with “Creating Hope” Article

The Sinclair Institute and BetterSex.com added “Creating Hope: A personal story about sex and cancer” to their web site today. The National Cancer Institute indicates there are over ten million people living with cancer in the United States. The statistic became personal when a member of Sinclair’s team was diagnosed with cancer.

Hillsborough, NC, September 13, 2007 --(PR.com)-- “I was speaking with Marty about his experience of living with cancer,” explained Peggy Oettinger Sinclair’s President, “and his story was fascinating, hopeful and informative. I suggested we share his story so others could understand the importance of intimacy when fighting a major health challenge.” The Sinclair Institute was founded in 1991 to help adults learn about sexual health and intimacy. The company is best known for creating the Better Sex Video Series ® now viewed by millions and sold around the world.

“Marty’s ‘Creating Hope’ story for BetterSex.com is a natural extension of our educational mission,” Ms. Oettinger said. “It is easy to find sites that discuss cancer and many sites talk about sex, but few are talking about the importance of finding ways to keep intimacy and sex alive in a relationship when fighting cancer or any major health challenge,” Ms. Oettinger explained.

Sinclair’s goal is to create hope by sharing a personal story that includes links to Lance Armstrong’s Live Strong Foundation, the Jimmy Heuga Center for Multiple Sclerosis and opportunities for people to share their stories and thoughts directly with Marty. “We will support people with cancer and their families and use our resources to help Marty and others,” explained Ms. Oettinger.

Sinclair is committed to education and social responsibility “Last year we made another significant donation to DKT International,” explains Ms. Oettinger. DKT International (http://www.dktinternational.org) is a four star rated nonprofit organization established to fight global HIV/AIDS and assist third world couples with health planning. “The Sinclair Institute was founded to help people understand how to have better sex and that idea is important to any relationship at any time and maybe most especially when a couple faces a life-altering health challenge such as cancer” concluded Ms. Oettinger.
