Jackie Arendt to Run for 2013 North Royalton School Board Election

Local Resident Announces she will be running for position on the North Royalton School Board.

North Royalton, OH, October 02, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Jackie Arendt, a graduate from the North Royalton class of 1982, has announced that she will be running for a 4-year appointment on the North Royalton School Board. Arendt, a North Royalton resident for 28 years, has established herself as an active community member with her husband Dave and their four daughters, who have all graduated from the Royalton school district.

“Having been an active community member, I feel there is a need for a new voice on the North Royalton Board of Education. We need people who are not using it for advancement in their profession or are trying to undermine the success we have here. We deserve hard working, passionate people who know how to analyze needs while being fiscally responsible,” said Arendt. “My husband, Dave, and I chose the North Royalton school system and community to raise our daughters because this existed.”

Arendt received her Master’s Degree in 2009 from Case Western Reserve University. As an undergraduate at Cleveland State University, she was honored with the Distinguished Student Award and currently teaches Sociology as an Adjunct Professor at Cuyahoga Community College and Cleveland State University. In addition to teaching, she currently serves as the Ohio PTA Director of Advocacy and the Federal Legislative Chairperson for the National PTA, where she works in collaboration with parents, teachers, administrators and students to focus on strengthening communities through education.

Aside from teaching, tutoring and raising her daughters, she is actively involved in the local community with organizations that promote the improvement of both local and statewide education, which include the following:

·North Royalton Education Foundation
·Curriculum and Instruction Advisory Committee
·Partnership for Healthy North Royalton
·Common Core State Standard Committee of Ohio PTA
·North Royalton Association for Gifted and Talented
·Gifted Advisory Committee (now Curriculum and Instruction Advisory Committee)
·North Royalton Soccer Club Girls Travel Director and In-house High School Girls Commissioner
·Family and Civic Engagement Committee
·North Royalton Strategic Planning Committee

Due to her strong involvement in the community, she was recently endorsed by the Ohio Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 15 serving North Royalton and Broadview Heights.

“Throughout my involvement with various organizations I have brought fundraising ideas like General Mills Box Tops to Albion Elementary and started a senior citizens computer training program at North Royalton High School with the faculty and students there,” said Arendt. “As a North Royalton School Board member, I would bring a vast and varied array of professional and personal knowledge and skills, a fresh voice, and passion to keep our community great. As a 1982 NRHS graduate, parent of four daughters, and active community member, I bring 26 years of volunteerism in various organizations like PTA, North Royalton Soccer Club, and Partnership for a Healthy North Royalton with a proven track record for results.”

“My action-driven tenacity comes from utilizing my research experience as a professor, activism as a parent, watchdog insistence as a taxpayer, and enthusiasm as an alumna. My critical thinking and problem solving skills have been instrumental in committee work on curriculum, facility, and civic issues. These abilities will allow me to help find beneficial solutions advancing 21st century educational opportunities while maintaining financial responsibility,” said Arendt.
