VMZINC Recognized by Metal Construction Association for the 2013 Chairman’s Awards

Raleigh, NC, October 04, 2013 --(PR.com)-- VMZINC® -US and Umicore Building Products, USA Inc., a leading specialist in innovative zinc products manufactured and sold by the Building Products Unit of Umicore, has announced that the company was listed among the 2013 Chairman’s Award winners presented by the Metal Construction Association (MCA) in the commercial and industrial category for its contributions to the Cirrus Logic Building in Austin, Texas. Cirrus Logic, a supplier of analog and digital components for the audio and energy markets, constructed its new headquarters in a building featuring attractive zinc panels supplied by VMZINC and Umicore Building Products USA, Inc. The six-story office building included perforated zinc panels on the parking garage. Both interlocking panels and corrugated panels were used on the structures. According to the MCA judges, the project was chosen for its use of two types of panel systems and the sculptural quality of the building that is enhanced by the use of metal.

The Chairman’s Awards are annual honors given to outstanding building projects involving MCA member companies. The awards acknowledge innovation and creativity as well as showcase how metal products help achieve exceptional building designs. All 2013 Chairman’s Award recipients were recognized at METALCON International, the only annual conference and exhibition dedicated to metal construction products, technologies and solutions, on Oct. 1 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta.

Recipients of the Chairman’s Awards are selected each year from projects submitted by MCA members to Metal Architecture magazine’s annual Design Awards Program. The awards recognize projects in nine categories, including commercial/industrial; education – primary and secondary schools; education – colleges and universities; municipal; institutional; roofing; residential and overall excellence. MCA also honored two projects with an Honorable Mention Award.
