TV Personality, Broadcast Meteorologist, Model and Television Commercial Actress Cheryl Nelson Crowned Mrs. Virginia International 2014

Cheryl Nelson, winner of the 2014 Mrs. Virginia International competition pledges to prepare Virginians for natural disasters and prevent unnecessary tragedies such as experienced in hurricane Sandy in 2012 or Katrina in 2005.

Washington, DC, October 08, 2013 --(PR.com)-- TV Personality, Broadcast Meteorologist, Model and Television Commercial Actress Mrs. Cheryl Nelson was crowned Mrs. Virginia International 2014 in Roanoke, Virginia on Saturday September 28, 2013.

As a broadcast meteorologist, Cheryl says "weather is near and dear to my heart, so I have chosen Natural Disaster Preparedness as my platform. Working in television for over 10 years, I have witnessed the force of Mother Nature and my goal is to educate Virginians about how they can prepare now to ultimately help save lives." Cheryl also says that no matter where you live, no one is immune from natural disasters. "It is only a matter of time before the next natural disaster strikes. It could be next week, next year or even 100 years from now."

Cheryl can now reach literally thousands of Virginians as Mrs. Virginia International and ensure they are ready for natural disasters and prevent unnecessary tragedies such as experienced in 2012 with hurricane Sandy or in 2005 with hurricane Katrina.

Cheryl is currently working with the American Red Cross and other organizations to promote and raise awareness for Natural Disaster Preparedness in the beautiful state of Virginia.

Cheryl will also go on to compete as Mrs. International in Jacksonville, FL July 22-28, 2014. Cheryl says "If crowned Mrs. International, I will promote the importance of natural disaster preparedness through education and public appearances all across the United States and the world!"

Cheryl Nelson is a television broadcast personality and meteorologist with over 10 years of experience and holds the title of Certified Broadcast Meteorologist awarded to her by the American Meteorological Society. Her television experience includes work at various news organizations including: WSYR-TV Syracuse, NY; WIVT-TV Binghamton, NY; WUTR-Utica, NY; WWTI- Watertown, NY; WSTM/WSTQ-TV Syracuse; AccuWeather, Inc and WAVY-TV Norfolk, VA. She also broadcasted nationally on Fox News Channel and CNBC and had the leading role in a national commercial for Vegiefresh.com. Cheryl also emcees numerous events with her most recent event being the 2013 Body Sculpting Open Bodybuilding, Figure, Bikini and Physique Championships in Hampton, VA. Cheryl received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Meteorology with a concentration in Communications from Penn State University.
