Walford and North Shropshire College College Turns Up Heat in Scholars Restaurant
Walford and North Shropshire College (WNSC) will be opening the doors to its brand new training restaurant later this month. Everyone is invited to come along to the Official Launch which will take place on Thursday 17th of October at 6.30pm. The restaurant will be opened by Celebrity Chef, Marcus Bean, who is a regular on This Morning and various other television programmes.
Shropshire, United Kingdom, October 09, 2013 --(PR.com)-- WNSC governors, staff and students will be present from 5:30pm to answer any questions people may have about the restaurant or about courses available at the College.
Head of Department for Hospitality and Catering and Hair and Beauty, Sharon Cooper is working closely with Chef Lecturer, Dan Tompson and Food Service Instructor, Philip Bell, to ensure that the students and facilities are ready for the launch of the Scholars Restaurant.
Dan commented, “We have had a fantastic start to the new term. The first five weeks of the Professional Cookery Diploma course, have been fast paced with the group already completing initial food safety training and practical skills assessments. Guest speakers have included people from within the Hospitality and Catering industry and the students have already carried out an investigative visit to the Chester Grosvenor, Hotel and Spa. This 5 Star, 6 Rosette, establishment is recognised as one of the country’s leading hotels and offered the students an opportunity to gain knowledge of setting and maintaining professional standards of customer service. The students have done very well and most have achieved distinction grades for their work.”
The students and teaching staff are very excited about the opening of Scholars Restaurant and there has already been a high demand for bookings for the first week of business. The group is looking forward to working with Marcus Bean at the launch event when the students will be preparing a range of savoury and sweet canapés to give the public a taste of the dishes that will be available on the restaurant menu.
The College is always keen to build and maintain strong links with the local community and with this in mind, Dan and some of the hospitality and catering students will be attending the Oswestry Apple Day on Saturday 19th October 2013. They will be demonstrating their practical skills by making delicious treats which will then be available to the public.
