Ronald McDonald House Charities Names Dr. Munib Derhalli to Hall of Fame
Portland, OR, October 09, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Encouraged by his then neighbor and now Hall of Fame colleague, David Stoller, Dr. Munib Derhalli joined the RMHC Board of Trustees in 2005. A periodontist whose past military service includes several weeks helping to identify victims of the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing, Dr. Derhalli has been a long-time leader in the Southwest Washington dental community. The founder of Vancouver’s Children’s Dental Health Day, he continues to coordinate the annual event, which is sponsored by RMHC. He also helped launch Vancouver’s New Day Community Dental Clinic, which offers services to low income patients on a sliding-fee scale.
Dr. Derhalli is an invaluable member of RMHC’s Outreach Committee, working to shape and evaluate their oral health initiatives. In addition to being a generous donor, Dr. Derhalli created a unique program for honoring professional associates through gifts to RMHC. His wife, Amy, is a member of the auction planning committee, and the two of them volunteer at the Houses with their children.
“I was looking for an opportunity to honor my late siblings, in a reputable, transparent organization that helps children,” explains Dr. Derhalli. “I wanted to involve my wife and kids as well. RMHC was a perfect fit – and we all continue to get far more than we give.”
“[Dr. Derhalli] epitomizes the criteria that characterize our Hall of Fame members,” notes RMHC Executive Director, Tom Soma.” Without calling attention to himself, he leads by example – forging new partnerships for RMHC, extending awareness and supporting our staff and volunteers through his enthusiastic encouragement of every initiative. I’m delighted to see his efforts recognized through his induction into the Hall of Fame.”
