New Emergency Facility Opening in Southeast Aurora
The Medical Center of Aurora will open a new emergency department in Saddle Rock on November 1, 2013. Prior to opening, an open house event will take place October 26th from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will feature fun activities and health demonstrations.
Aurora, CO, October 09, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Construction is nearing completion for Saddle Rock ER, a full service, free-standing emergency department (ED) in southeast Aurora. A campus of The Medical Center of Aurora (TMCA) and part of the HealthONE System of Excellence, the 10,000 square foot facility is scheduled to open November 1, 2013.
Unlike an urgent care center, Saddle Rock ER will be staffed 24/7 by board certified emergency medicine physicians and specially trained ED nurses, allowing for timely treatment of acute illnesses or injuries, without a trip to the hospital. Saddle Rock ER will accept walk-in patients and those arriving by ambulance. If hospital admission is necessary, Saddle Rock ER patients can receive rapid ground or air transport to TMCA.
As the only ED in southeast Aurora, Saddle Rock ER sits on the southwest corner of South Gartrell Road and East Dry Creek Road, near E-470. Complete with 10 patient beds and a designated trauma room, the facility will offer on-site services typically found only in a hospital setting, including a full service laboratory and blood bank, in-house digital radiology and CT scanning, and the full spectrum of ED diagnostic services. Additionally, neurologists are available 24/7 through the HealthONE telemedicine program to evaluate, diagnose and initiate treatment for stroke patients.
“We see a real need in southeast Aurora for expanded accessibility to full emergency services. When time is of the essence, we want to be sure patients have the care they need, close to home,” says Richard Hammett, CEO of TMCA.
Prior to opening its doors to patients on November 1, Saddle Rock ER will host a Grand Opening event for the public on October 26th from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. This event, titled “Healthy Living in Our Community,” will offer fun activities and health demonstrations for the whole family, including a rock wall, face painting, flu shots, tours of the AirLife Helicopter and Critical Care Transport ambulance, and much more. Children are encouraged to come in costume for trick-or-treating through the new facility.
