Landmark Gourmet Food and Gifts Store to Host Winter Brew Competition Along with Free Beer and Cheese Sampling
Chapel Hill, NC, October 10, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Southern Season, the South’s premier destination for local and international fine food, wine, specialty gifts, cookware and cooking classes, is excited to announce the return of the store’s Homebrew Contest. The competition gives homebrewers a chance to show off their best craft beer and enter it into a taste test for the chance to win a six month membership to Southern Season’s “Brew of the Month” club and a $300 store shopping spree. Brew submissions, which must be a winter brew, will be accepted through Monday, Nov. 5, with entry information available online as well as in the store. Winners will be announced at the Beer Extravaganza and Awards Event taking place on Saturday, Nov. 9 from 3-7 p.m. at 201 S. Estes Dr. in Chapel Hill, N.C.
Over the past decade, craft breweries have been popping up throughout North Carolina, with over 20 breweries in the Triangle area alone. In the 2012 inaugural Homebrew Contest, Southern Season received more than 48 entries and more than 600 attendees for the Beer Extravaganza and Awards Event. This year, local craft brewers, home brewers and residents will be in attendance to sample beers, cheese, delicious tastings, live performances at the Weathervane, and other specials. All winter brews will be judged by a panel of professional, amateur, and BJCP judges. To enter the competition, a $5 entry fee is required with each entry form, along with 3 – 12 oz. bottles of the home brew and the beer recipe at http://www.southernseason.com/our-stores/chapel-hill/home-brew-contest-2/.
