Marin Mixed Martial Arts Students Win Two Gold Medals at Master Senior World Jiu-Jitsu Championships
Marin MMA’s competition team, led by head instructor Mikyo Riggs, took gold in several divisions in the Master Senior World Championships, held at the Walter Pyramid at California State University, Long Beach, 10/05-06/2013.
San Anselmo, CA, October 11, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Marin MMA’s is excited to announce it’s first International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation World Champions. Head owner and instructor Mikyo Riggs could not be more elated: “I am extremely proud of my students. I have been training my students to be world champion for many years and it finally happened! I could not be happier with their performance. They worked hard and deserve the titles they won.” The two students are blue belt master medium-heavy weight Wojtek Bak, who submitted three of his four opponents, and purple belt senior 3 light-feather weight Peter Fugazzotto. Wojtek had several impressive submission finishes, including the flying arm bar he used to win his last fight.
Marin MMA’s other two competitors also medaled this year. Blue Belt Master Middle-Weight Candace Stump took home the silver medal for winning three of four fights in her division and the bronze medal in the open weight category. Blue Belt Senior 2 Feather Weight Eric Smith won bronze, submitting his first opponent with an arm bar.
