Changes Coming to ITAR Compliance – Is Your Organization Ready?
TITUS to address new Export Control requirements at Global Export Controls Summit.
Ottawa, Canada, October 12, 2013 --(PR.com)-- TITUS, a leading provider of security and compliance solutions for email and documents, is a Lead Sponsor of the Global Export Controls Summit, taking place October 14 and 15 in Washington, DC. TITUS Product Marketing Manager Lara Bender will speak to attendees in a session highlighting the new U.S. Export Control Reform (ECR) requirements coming into effect this month.
In October, there will be two new rules affecting the Export Control Reform made by the Departments of State and Commerce. The jurisdiction of many military items, which have been deemed less sensitive, will be moved from the U.S. Munitions List which is governed by the State Department’s International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), to be on the Commerce Control List that is governed by the Commerce Department’s Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
Additionally, the Export Control Reform is looking to reduce restrictions on exports such as certain vehicles and aircrafts. The new rules will also maintain controls through licensing and classification requirements. Military items will be differentiated from those that require more flexible controls, and officials hope this will encourage more exporting to allies of the United States.
On October 14 at 3:00pm, TITUS Product Marketing Manager Lara Bender will be speaking at the Global Export Controls Summit in the session, “How to Leverage Automation and Technology in Your Global Compliance to Improve Functionality and Streamline Processes.” This session will explore how companies of all sizes are best preparing their existing processes to improve functionality and productivity while establishing secure methods for avoiding non-compliance.
“ITAR and EAR are being transformed, and we are committed to ensuring our customers understand these changes and continue to comply with these updates,” said Tim Upton, Founder, President and CEO of TITUS.
