Passing CBCCT and CBNC Exams Can Earn Points for ABIM MOC
CBCCT and CBNC candidates who sit for certification or recertification and pass the exam can obtain 20 Self-Evaluation of Medical Knowledge points for the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification(MOC)
Gaithersburg, MD, October 16, 2013 --(PR.com)-- The Council of Certification in Cardiovascular Imaging (CCCVI) announces that the certification and recertification examinations of the Certification Board of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography (CBCCT) and the Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology (CBNC) have been accepted by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) for Maintenance of Certification (MOC) points. The exams count as activities under ABIM's Self- Evaluation of Medical Knowledge requirement. Twenty (20) points will be awarded by ABIM upon passing one of the exams.
The recognition runs from September 19, 2013 through December 31, 2015. ABIM board-certified individuals, who pass the CBNC exams in December, 2013 and who are enrolled in ABIM's MOC program, will receive 20 MOC points from ABIM. Future exam administrations may also offer this opportunity.

The Certification Board of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography was established in 2007 with the goal of improving patient care. The Board provides certification in cardiovascular CT in order for physicians to document their skills and knowledge in the field. Cardiologists, radiologists and physicists are joined by representatives from the American College of Cardiology (ACC); the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology (ASNC); The Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (SCAI); and the Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography (SCCT) on the CBCCT Board. To date 1,925 physicians have been certified in cardiovascular CT through CBCCT in 40 countries around the world.

The Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology was founded in 1996 to support optimal patient care and enhancement of the field through a certification program that promotes quality, professionalism and practice-based learning and improvement. The CBNC is recognized by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and Agreement States as a specialty board meeting the requirements for Authorized User status via the certification pathway for 10 CFR 35.290 Training for Imaging and Localization Studies. The CBNC Board is comprised of physician practitioners and specialists with expertise in physics and radiopharmaceuticals. ACC and ASNC are also represented on the CBNC Board. More than 8,300 physicians have been awarded certification in nuclear cardiology in over 50 countries.
More than 1,000 physicians are certified in both cardiovascular CT and nuclear cardiology.
