BBC Radio International opens rock music archive for mobile and web radio broadcast

Berkeley, CA, September 15, 2007 --(PR.com)-- BBC Radio International has come to agreement with Liquid Air Lab GmbH, Stuttgart (Germany) to make the BBC In Concert archive available on the spodtronic live! portal for web and mobile radio listening.

The In Concert series, containing recordings made by BBC Radio, is one of the world’s largest catalogues of quality live music available to radio around the world. It features both new and established artists from the last four decades and material across all genres - pop, rock, indie, reggae and alternative to soul. The archive is continuously growing as new concerts are recorded with performances from artists such as The Who, Mika, Kasabian, Jamiroquai and Take That added this year. Altogether, the catalogue includes over 1,000 exclusive audio concerts from bands such as Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Queen, AC/DC, Coldplay, Muse, Chemical Brothers, The Killers and Avril Lavigne.

Liquid Air Lab will launch the spodtronic live! radio service with mobile network operators, targeting one exclusive operator in each of 20 Continental European countries (excluding the UK), then aiming to extend the service to the USA and Canada. The service is also available, starting today, directly on the company’s live music radio portal, http://www.spodtroniclive.com. Against a subscription fee starting from 5.99 Euros/month (1 month subscription), users can access the archives both over the Internet and over their mobile phone using the spodtronic client software. The service is fully licensed in partnership with the British recorded music industry body, the BPI.

Daniel Dearlove, Head of Content Sales, Audio and Music, commented: “In Concert has had a unique role over many years in helping promote quality live music over radio around the world, and we are happy to be working with Liquid Air Lab to help bring live music to this new and exciting service.”

Mikko Linnamäki, CEO of Liquid Air Lab GmbH says: “We are very proud to work with BBC Radio International, bringing all these rare recordings to music fans. The sound quality of these recordings from the most recognized artists and bands, and the atmosphere of festivals like Glastonbury or Donington is truly amazing.” British Broadcasting Corporation BBC Worldwide Press Office Woodlands 80 Wood Lane London W12 0TT
