HEALTHCAREfirst Announces Recipients of Third Annual Compassionfirst Award
Award given to home health and hospice caregivers.

The award recipients each receive a $500 cash prize as well as recognition by HEALTHCAREfirst at the 2013 National Association for Home Care and Hospice (NAHC) Annual Meeting and the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO) Clinical Team Conference.
Diane Schmitt, the recipient of the Compassionfirst Award for her dedication to home health care, works as a registered nurse for Sierra Pride Home Healthcare Agency in Warren, Michigan. “Diane is a compassionate, wonderful, dedicated, trustworthy and very reliable nurse,” said Director of Nursing, Bridget Hamed-M’Bayo. “She goes above and beyond to make her patients happy and expects nothing in return.”
Kathy Godbout, the recipient of the Compassionfirst Award for her work in hospice care, is a Care Partner for Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City, MO. “Of all her many talents, listening to her patients is the most considerate one. She encourages patients to talk, cry or laugh without judgment. Her shining smile and soft giggle brighten the days of many that she works with,” remarked Julie Dreesman, Registered Nurse.
HEALTHCAREfirst also announced the 2013 Compassionfirst Award finalists: Rosalinda Herrera, Registered Nurse at Home Health Services of Houston, Inc. was honored for her commitment to home health care and Larry Thompson, Chaplain at VITAS Innovative Hospice Care in Fort Lauderdale, FL was awarded for his dedication to hospice care.
The Compassionfirst Award is presented to the Home Health or Hospice caregiver who goes above and beyond what is required and regularly shows genuine kindness, dedication and compassion when caring for others.
