Youth Competition Winners to Perform with Minnesota Sinfonia
Minneapolis, MN, October 19, 2013 --(PR.com)-- The Minnesota Sinfonia presents Music for the Season in continuation of its 25th anniversary celebrations featuring, the 2013 Junior Young Artist Competition winner, violinist Emera Gurath, and the 2013 Senior Young Artist Competition winner, Mark Prihodko. Concerts will be held at Arlington Hills Lutheran Church in St. Paul on November 22 and Basilica of Saint Mary in Minneapolis on November 23.
The program will include a variety of seasonal favorites, great Broadway show tunes and music from the movies.
Emera is a student of Doosook Kim, Concertmaster of the South Dakota Symphony Orchestra. Growing up in Sioux Falls, SD, she began studying violin at the age of 4 with Maria Peters. She is a founding member of the South Dakota Symphony Youth Orchestra and in addition to the violin, is an honor student in school, as well as taking part in student council, running track, playing the clarinet in school band, and singing in the school chorus.
Mark moved to the United States after living in Belarus and studying under renowned cellist Vladimir Perlin. He now studies cello with Tanya Remenikov at the University of Minnesota. In addition to winning the Senior Young Artist Competition, Mark has won numerous international competitions including the Russian Rotary Children’s Music Competition and the Schubert Club Competition.
Concerts will be held 7 p.m. Friday, November 22 at Arlington Hills Lutheran Church at 1115 Greenbrier Street in St. Paul, and 2 p.m. Saturday, November 23 at Basilica of St. Mary at 88 N. 17th Street Minneapolis. Admission is free and children are always welcome to attend. Audience members should arrive early—all concerts are first-come, first-seated.
