iUniverse Publishing Package Winner to Publish First Novel
New York, NY, September 15, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Gloria O’Shields never imagined that her experience at the 2007 Will Rogers Writer’s Workshop would result in her publishing her first novel later in the year.
But that exactly what she’s doing now, thanks to winning an iUniverse Premier Pro publishing package during the workshop’s closing dinner.
Her novel, tentatively titled Tale of a Two-Timed Wife, is almost complete and ready for publishing. Of the book, O’Shields says, "It is humorous chick-lit about a middle-aged woman who is crushed by the discovery of her dead husband's affair with a younger woman," she said. "In her dejected state, she becomes infatuated with a movie star, and with the help of her best friend, she pursues him across two continents.”
"Her whimsical adventures ultimately lead to her own self-realization. Although the novel is humorous, the message is serious: hanging onto anger is a major roadblock to a fulfilling life," O’Shields said.
The Farmington, N.M. speech teacher and debate coach has already coauthored a nonfiction book, We Shall Be Heard: Women Speakers in America.
iUniverse was a major sponsor of the 2007 Will Rogers Writer’s Workshop and gave away the publishing package, valued at $1299, as a part of the workshop’s festivities.
“iUniverse is the only supported self-publishing company that makes real investments in discovering talented writers from all corners of the world,” said Susan Driscoll, iUniverse president and CEO. “Our publishing package giveaways are a perfect example of our dedication to identifying, supporting and celebrating authors that have the potential for writing success.”
