US Business Breaks the Ice with Myanmar (Burma)
A 37 year prohibition preventing US firms from doing business in Myanmar (Burma) ended when Soft Power Solutions was registered to do business with the government of Myanmar.
Chantilly, VA, October 20, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Two weeks ago, a 37 year prohibition that prevented US companies from doing business in Myanmar (Burma) was ended when sanctions were lifted and one of the first US businesses, Soft Power Solutions, LLC, was registered with the government of Myanmar. According to a Myanmar Investment Commission official, Soft Power Solutions, LLC is the first US business to register in the form of a public-private partnership. Business operation is intended to support the needs of the local community who will maintain a shared leadership role alongside local government and industry stakeholders. According to Brig Gen, USAF (Ret) Edwin “Skip” Vincent, the Soft Power Solutions Chairman, “This promises to be a good fit for both countries since the philosophy and business climate of Myanmar and the United States are very compatible. With its history of Buddhism and a business philosophy that places strong emphasis on ethical behavior, Myanmar businesses emphasize win-win relationships. Midwest US ranchers who place great importance on a man’s word and handshake would feel right at home doing business in Myanmar.”
About Soft Power Solutions
Unlike military hard power, Soft Power Solutions, LLC is in the business of winning friends and influencing countries by using the latest technologies to improve the quality of life and security of citizens. This is done by leapfrogging traditional technology and using engineering methods to measure results while providing accountability. Three decades ago, Dr. Joseph Nye, Dean of the Harvard University John F. Kennedy School of Government, coined the phrase “soft power” and later wrote the book “Soft Power: The Means to Success in World Politics.” Soft power is one end of a continuum with hard power (military action) on the other. Actions in between have been labeled smart power, but for the continuum to exist it takes both hard power and soft power.
However, according to General Vincent “soft power is anything but soft.” Recently, the terms “soft power” and “smart power” have been bandied about without a full understanding of the terms and what they imply. Many users don’t realize that soft power is not to be confused with limp-wristed and unaccountable soft actions or soft policy that accomplish nothing except to make people feel good. Soft Power Solutions, LLC has built an engineering based accountable approach to soft power engagements. Soft Power Solutions, LLC uses the proven processes of Soft Power Engineering® as the repeatable scientific methodology for delivering predictable, quantifiable and accountable elements of soft power and smart power. Soft Power Engineering® is easily understood and a proven leadership tool that enables stakeholder decision makers to bring enduring solutions to the point of a community’s needs.
