San Jose, CA, November 29, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Cancer Commons and Vizigy Media Technologies (“Vizigy”) announced that they are working together to integrate video solutions the Cancer Commons Patient Powered Research Network.

Vizigy Media Technologies will provide their Video Management platform to Cancer Commons to achieve 3 objectives: 1) to create an on-line video repository for cancer patients to access and view relevant educational and informational videos on various aspects of cancer and cancer treatment in one place. 2) to enable patients to donate their information as easy as possible via video and smart phones, and 3) to turn that video content into usable data that can be used by researchers and medical professionals.

Vizigy and Cancer Commons will develop an integrated patient video interview/survey application that uses mobile devices (smart phones, etc.) to capture easily capture patient information as well as additional interactions with researchers and medical care professionals. The survey videos will be made available to cancer patients as well as researchers and medical care professionals. Additionally, the system will provide the ability to extract and analyze semantic metadata from the videos to aid in research and treatment.

According to Cancer Commons founder, Dr. JM Tennenbaum, “with the advent of precision oncology, a network of cancer patients is essential for dramatically expanding the types of information that are available to and obtained from each patient, regardless of where they are being treated. Our partnership with Vizigy will help empower patients to participate, as full partners, in both treatment decisions and research studies.” Vizigy CEO and cofounder, Randall Whiting added, “Video will help Cancer Commons reach and engage more cancer patients and enable clinicians and scientists to have access to a rich, engaged patient registry for further analysis and study.”
