SAMO© Graffiti Co-Creator, Al Diaz, to Celebrate Jean-Michel Basquiat at Cutting Edge Art Event on November 8-9 in New Orleans

New York, NY, November 07, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Al Diaz, Jean-Michel Basquiat’s friend, graffiti cohort and co-creator of the internationally recognized signature tag SAMO© will be a special guest at a two-day art event on November 8-9, 2013, which will celebrate the 25th anniversary of Jean-Michel Basquiat’s historic visit to New Orleans.

Al Diaz commented "Not only is it an honor to be part of this celebration, it’s important to be able to shed more light on and clarify the story around the SAMO© graffiti."

Speaking on behalf of Ekistics, International House Hotel and Rice Mill Lofts who are co-sponsoring the events, Samantha Joachim said: "We are very honored and excited to have Al Diaz as our special guest for this momentous weekend. We look forward to sharing our culture with him and learning from him as well. We know he will get a taste of what Jean Michel fell in love with when he visited New Orleans back in 1988."

Al Diaz is best known as Co-creator of SAMO©. SAMO© was a graffiti tag that Al Diaz and Jean Michel Basquiat collaborated on and signed on the streets of downtown NYC from 1977 to 1980. SAMO© became well known because of its wit and sarcastic humor and has remained well known because of the subsequent fame of artist, Jean Michel Basquiat.
