MEMS (Micro Electro Mechanical System) based Variable Optical Attenuators are integrated in complex optical modules operating up to 100 GBits. They continuously gain market share over competing traditional technologies in optical networks applications ranging from optical modules protection to the growing segments of power management. The MEMS variable optical attenuators (VOAs) are designed for latest optical network systems by providing low insertion loss, a wide attenuation range, flat wavelength dependence and low polarization dependence loss. The operating voltage only needs less than 5V for driving up to maximum attenuation range.
