FlipSlip Launches World's First Foldable, Self-Containable Shoes

San Francisco, CA, November 08, 2013 --(PR.com)-- FlipSlip has launched its Kickstarter campaign for a product that will help women's soles and keep their purse clean. The answer? A foldable, self-containable shoe.
"We believe there's definitely a need for a well-designed product that addresses an issue that affects approximately 40% of women daily: the pain and suffering from high-heels,” says Esther Flatto, founder, FlipSlip Shoes Company. “Our goal was to design a shoe that really solved the problem of having to carry an extra pair of backup flats in a woman’s purse: compactness and hygiene. We believe that if a shoe is designed to be specifically put into a purse, it should solve both of these problems, and of course, look stylish while doing it.”
After over four years of developing and producing sample after sample, the company has created the most functional foldable shoe available on the market. It is the only shoe that folds sole-to-sole and has a reversible upper that makes it compressible and hygienic. It folds to a quarter of its original size—to about the size of an iPhone—and unfolds into a regular ballet flat. It has a collapsible neoprene upper, which will conform to the wearer’s foot, and is durable, washable and water-resistant. The soft cushion insole will provide comfort with every step, making it a to-go ballet flat for daily use.
Through the use of its new “Crowd-Design” business model, FlipSlip has come up with a “Project Runway meets Kickstarter” campaign aimed at developing a foldable footwear collection by enlisting the help of over twenty community artists. Each participant submitted one original sample for a chance to have his or her unique artwork put into production, but only the top-voted design is featured in the campaign.
“Runway Project” Winning Design: Exotic Romance by Artist Meline Katchi:
The Exotic Romance is the winning design and is being offered on Kickstarter through FlipSlip’s Runway Project. The artist from Los Angeles is a Masters Graduate in Footwear Design. By ordering FlipSlip’s Exotic Romance, backers get the opportunity to bring this talented artist’s work to life at their feet.
FlipSlip is ideal for commuting to work or traveling. It can be used at the beach, as a backup to switch into from uncomfortable shoes, or as a to-go ballet flat. They are available in sizes 6 to 11 in four stock colors—black, red, green, as and a fourth color that backers will vote on.
