Sottosopra Cinema LLC Announces Documentary Film on the Student Loan Debt Crisis
Award-winning film team launches crowdfunding campaign to raise $15,000 and fund Deferred.
Chicago, IL, November 09, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Sottosopra Cinema LLC, an Illinois production company, announced today its launch of a feature-length documentary film on the student loan debt crisis by Emmy nominated director Josh Hester and award-winning producer Zach Baliva. The documentary, currently in pre-production, will examine the impact student loan debt is having on current, future, and former students as well as their friends, their families, and our nation. It is expected to hit the festival circuit in 2015 ahead of DVD distribution.
The project is launching with a 30-day, $15,000 crowdfunding campaign to finance the production of a short-format version of the film. Details and tax-free donations at Indiegogo.com (search Deferred Movie).
"We're excited to bring this issue to light because in one way or another it touches every single American," said Zach Baliva. "The national student loan debt has surpassed one trillion dollars. What it's keeping our graduates from accomplishing and how the broken system could destroy our economy are important issues we should be discussing."
Baliva is the founder of Sottosopra Cinema LLC and previously co-produced the independent film My Name is Jerry starring Doug Jones, which won Best Picture at the International Filmmaker Festival. Hester's recognitions include a 2013 Mid-America Emmy nomination, three Bronze Telly Awards, and a 2003 Best Film Award from the International Student Documentary Competition for his short film Dear Mr. President.
Deferred is sponsored by Chicago Filmmakers, a 37 year-old media arts organization whose notable projects include Howard Zinn: You Can’t Be Neutral on a Moving Train, and Halsted Street, USA.
All donations in support of Deferred are tax deductible and are accepted at deferredmovie.com or via the Indiegogo campaign
