Vet2Tech Announces Veteran Scholarship Challenge

Vet2Tech will be awarding five lucky veterans in the Chicagoland area full scholarships for online commercial food equipment technician training to help them re-enter the job market.

Chicago, IL, November 08, 2013 --(PR.com)-- TechU24/7, the developer of an innovative, gamified, online basic technician training program developed in partnership with the Commercial Food Equipment Service Association (CFESA), has teamed up with not-for-profit, Vet2Tech, to offer five career driven veterans full scholarships to their online basic technician training program.

The challenge officially launches on Veterans’ Day in celebration of all who have served and runs through Tuesday, December 10th. Scholarships will be awarded based on a variety of factors including a short essay about why the veteran believes they will be a good fit for the program, a live interview and a skills assessment. The TechU24/7 basic technician training program is also offered through community colleges across the country. Locally, Oakton Community College, Prairie State College and Waubonsee Community College are among the growing list of colleges that offer the program.

Vet2Tech president Carol Multack said, “Vet2Tech is committed to helping veterans build new careers as technicians in the commercial food equipment industry. We feel it is our duty to give back to the men and women who have put their lives on the line to serve our country.” She added, “Veterans develop exceptional leadership skills through their military career and possess a great deal of integrity and a strong work ethic as demonstrated by their commitment to service. These are the exact qualities the commercial food equipment repair industry is looking for in technicians.”

The interactive, online program teaches the fundamental technical concepts needed to become a commercial food equipment repair technician and guarantees a job interview with a hiring company upon successful completion of the program. The program can typically be completed in one month.

There are currently 15,000 job openings for service technicians nationwide. Job openings are expected to increase by 8% over the next five years unless a new generation of technicians can be recruited and trained for these jobs that offer good wages, benefits and outstanding growth potential.

“We are very excited about this program,” stated George Nicholson, President of TechU24/7. “Working in partnership with the Commercial Food Equipment Service Association, their member companies, Vet2Tech, and community colleges nationwide, we hope to put thousands of candidates into these great jobs and on to solid career paths.”
