Two Epic Adventures and an MTB Talk Unveiled as Secret Compass Returns to London’s Adventure Travel Show
Bristol, United Kingdom, November 13, 2013 --(PR.com)-- At January’s Adventure Travel Show at London’s Olympia, pioneering expedition company Secret Compass will launch two new MTB and trekking experiences into Ethiopia and the remote Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh.
Secret Compass founder, Tom Bodkin, says: “London’s Adventure Travel Show kick-starts our year, and we’ll be there to showcase our pioneering adventures to the country’s most demanding and discerning adventure travellers.
“In 2014 we have team spaces available on trekking and rafting expeditions to Afghanistan, Yemen, South Sudan, Panama, Sierra Leone and Madagascar, as well as a winter mountaineering summit attempt on Iraq’s highest peak, Mount Halgurd.
“Brand new for 2014 are two pioneering adventures – a mountain bike (MTB) trip through Ethiopia’s stunning Simien mountain ranges and a demanding trek to explore unclimbed peaks in the remote, almost untouched Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh, Land of Dawn-lit Mountains.”
Marketing director Kerry O’Neill said, “Tom Bodkin led a world-first MTB trip into Afghanistan this summer, which was the inspiration for our two-wheeled expedition in Ethiopia. He’ll be talking about this Afghan MTB experiences on Sat 25th Jan at 4.15pm in the show’s Incredible Journeys Theatre.”
O’Neill continued, “Arunachal Pradesh is also a new destination for Secret Compass and indeed for most adventurers. New border passes in the region are heavily guarded by the Indian military and difficulties in getting an entry permit deters all but the most ardent traveller, so we can’t wait to take our first intrepid explorers there in November 2014.”
Densely forested ridges, Tibetan-Buddhist monastery villages, bamboo houses and snow-capped peaks characterise Arunachal Pradesh, whose 300+ sub tribes speak a multitude of local dialects.
O’Neill concluded, “The adventure tourism market continues to grow, and we want to stay at its forefront by offering cutting-edge destinations. The people who are attracted to us have visited the usual tourist spots twice over and know that we’ll surprise them with expeditions and adventure travel experiences in wild, pristine or inaccessible destinations. They often get more than they bargained for as part of our international teams!”
