Magellan Solutions Sends Help to Earthquake and Typhoon Victims in Visayas
Magellan Solutions has backed disaster relief efforts of different volunteer groups following the destruction caused by the 7.2-magnitude earthquake and Typhoon Yolanda that recently hit Visayas, Philippines.
Mandaluyong City, Philippines, November 15, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Magellan Solutions Outsourcing Inc., a leading Philippine-based inbound call center, is supporting nationwide disaster relief efforts of various volunteer associations and government agencies following the destruction caused by the 7.2-magnitude earthquake and Typhoon Yolanda (international name: Haiyan) that ravaged Central and Eastern Visayas regions in the Philippines last October 15 and November 8 this year.
The Management and Staff of Magellan Solutions have decided to utilize the cash budget that was originally allocated for the annual Halloween decoration contest to jumpstart a fundraising program called the Orange Drive. Human resources manager Dollfuss Paredes said the Orange Drive is spearheaded by the company’s Culture Committee to provide hard-hit families in Bohol, Cebu and Leyte with financial and relief assistance. He said that the choice of color is apt for its ongoing fundraising project as it not only represents the event’s theme but more importantly, reflects optimism, encouragement, restoration, warmth, and happiness. “After the earthquake tragedy, there has been an outpouring of support from our employees wanting to participate. It’s just a matter of time that we reach out to our countrymen who lost their loved ones to these successive tragedies. The Orange Drive symbolized our collective efforts as an organization. Our goal is to help people in times of crisis,” he said.
According to Paredes, the fundraising program started late October in response to the relief operations made for the earthquake victims. He said the amount of assistance is expected to increase significantly in the coming days as the Orange Drive has been extended until November to accept more donations from employees who still want to give – this time for the victims of Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan), the strongest cyclone in recorded history.
To date, employees continue to donate relief goods such as ready-to-eat food such as sardines, bottled water, clothes, blankets, insect repellants, alcohol, footwear, and medicines especially antibiotics. Cash donations are also accepted in addition to these contributions.
This assistance comes on top of the first batch of food and non-food relief turned over for re-packing and distribution last November 11 to Sagip Kapamilya-ABS-CBN Foundation Inc., the benevolent arm of the Philippines’ largest media and entertainment company ABS-CBN Corporation.
“Beyond emergency relief efforts, Magellan Solutions is already allocating other resources to assist our beloved countrymen in the Visayas. We will continue to work closely with social development partners, volunteer associations and the National Government to help these towns and provinces rise once again,” Paredes said.
