100 Women... 2,400 Reasons to Celebrate
An initiative intended to help make Christmas special for women escaping violence.
Edmonton, Canada, November 16, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Graciously hosted at the home of Krishna Gupta, Rohit Group of Companies, on November 4th, 2013, what started as a small gathering of friends in 2010 to fill baskets with items for WIN House, has grown to 100 women arriving with hundreds of new, beautiful items for “Baskets of Hope,” an initiative intended to help make Christmas special for women escaping violence. Over 2,400 new items were donated, everything from plush bathrobes, snuggly blankets and beautiful handbags, to chocolates and gift certificates... all intended to help wounded women feel cared about and valued.
Baskets of Hope Founder, Dianne Young says, “I am overwhelmed with the response to what began as a small group of friends who joined me to do something to support women escaping violence. Last night, 100 women came together to reach out and touch the hearts of those who feel alone, scared and often forgotten. I am truly humbled by this outpouring of support. There are no words to describe the generosity of women in Edmonton... a wonderful demonstration of the special bond that links us all.”
Business leaders, community members, family and friends gathered to make the 2013 event a memorable one. Krishna Gupta, President of Rohit Charities closed the evening with, “Words cannot express my gratitude for what has been accomplished here tonight and I want to thank each of you from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to be kind and generous.”
