Password Protection Adds Security to Model 7369 2-Channel DB9 A/B Switch

The Model 7369 can be controlled via a user-friendly GUI. The user can remotely log-in to change the password or to enable or disable the password protection.

Cranston, RI, November 20, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Electro Standards Laboratories, Cranston, RI, USA, announces the new Model 7369 dual-channel DB9 A/B switch. This switch with RS232, Telnet and Graphical User Interface (GUI) allows sharing a single port interface device connected to the COMMON port among two other devices connected to the A and B ports for each channel. Remote Control access can be accomplished using an Ethernet 10/100BASE-T connection and either Telnet commands or GUI.

The GUI software enables the user to access the switch via a standard Web browser. The GUI provides easy-to-use point-and-click operation. Via the GUI, the user can change the switch position; lockout control of the switch’s front panel; change the login password; enable or disable the password protection; and reconfigure the switch’s IP address. Gang controls can be used to change the position or state of all channels simultaneously. Once connected, the GUI will stay up-to-date on the current position and status of the switch. Any changes made outside of the GUI, such as by pushbutton, will be reflected in the GUI.

The Model 7369 can also be controlled via RS232 ASCII commands through the Rear Panel DB9 Remote Port. Remote control of the switch is password protected. Front-panel control is via (2) manual pushbuttons. Four front-panel LED’s display the switch position and power status. The model 7369 is enclosed in a 1U, full rack size, black anodized chassis designed to provide EMI/RFI shielding. The switch dimensions are 19.0” W x 1.75” H x 8.0” D (48.3 x 4.4 x 20.3 cm). The unit weighs approximately 4.5 lbs (2.0 Kg).

All (9) pins of the DB9 interface are switched. The switch maintains switch position on power loss and continues to pass data. The port connectors include (3) DB9 female connectors labeled A, B and COMMON for each channel. The RJ45 female connector on the rear panel accepts Ethernet 10/100Base-T connection and either TELNET commands or GUI for remote operation. One DB9 female connector accepts ASCII RS232 serial data for remote control operation. The front-panel LED’s display present position and power status. The attractive anodized black box packaging provides EMI/RFI shielding.

The Model 7369 is supplied with a UL approved 100VAC/240VAC, 50Hz/60Hz wall-mount power module. This module supplies 12VDC, 500mA to the unit. The module features a 2-prong, US, non-polarized plug. An optional Wide Range Power Module, Catalog No. 517277, is available. This table-mount module is CE, RoHS, and UL listed. This module has an IEC 60320 C14 inlet making it ideal for international applications.
