Carolina Wing Company Launches Wheels for Heroes Program to Help Disabled Combat Veterans
Local Restaurant to Give Away an Action Trackchair Through Project in Partnership with Operation: Coming Home
Raleigh, NC, November 21, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Milton Barber, owner of Carolina Wing Company, Raleigh’s neighborhood restaurant and bar serving the “best wings in town,” has announced that the restaurant launched its Project: Wheels For Heroes program in partnership with Operation: Coming Home on Nov. 11 in honor of Veteran’s Day. Project: Wheels For Heroes will raise money to donate an Action Trackchair to a disabled combat veteran who has served in the Middle East. The Action Trackchair is an off-road wheelchair built to help disabled individuals enjoy and navigate the great outdoors, including mountain roads, campgrounds, woods, beaches, hiking trails, frozen lakes, shallow streams and more.
As part of the project’s efforts, Carolina Wing Company will begin a series of promotions to raise money for the Action Trackchair. Promotions include a $1 donation from every order of chips and salsa purchased at the restaurant, as well as the sale of Wheels For Heroes t-shirts for $20, from which all proceeds will go towards an Action Trackchair. Additional promotions will be announced at a later date and will continue until the program’s finale on Jan. 11, 2014, when a veteran will receive the chair at a dinner featuring live entertainment and more.
Operation: Coming Home is a joint volunteer project by the Home Builders Association of Raleigh-Wake Count (HBA), and various nonprofits and businesses. Operation: Coming Home will choose the recipient of the chair after a selection committee interviews candidates to determine the best fit.
Quotes:
“We are excited to be working with Operation: Coming Home for such a wonderful cause,” said Barber. “The bravery that our veterans display through their service to our country should serve as an inspiration to everyone. We are honored to launch this program in an effort to give back to our disabled combat veterans and help them enjoy the great outdoors with ease.”
